Taught by Voice and Speech with Ryan O’Shea

Saturday, March 9th

10am - 5pm

In person at Crash Acting —1924 Raymond Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90007

“After working with Ryan, I now feel completely confident with an RP British accent. She is such an excellent teacher, and breaks everything down in manageable bites that make sense.”

— Hannah B.

“I would recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to demystify accents and accent work.”

— Nancy L.

“I now feel empowered to play in the space of voice and find my own expression. I now have practical tools to reference over and over and build upon. I loved getting to play with the accent in script, and the warm ups for face and voice! A new awareness I've never had in my body!”

— DeAnza B.

This workshop includes…

“Loved the attention to oral posture, having that skill and knowledge will be so useful! Love how everything built to us putting that knowledge to work! Comprehensive, hands-on, digestible.”

— Brooke H.

“I now feel far more prepared to take on an English role. I really loved the focus on lexical sets, I think that's the biggest key to understanding this stuff. In order to best internalize something as nuanced as a dialect, I need to find one or two key concepts to use as catalysts.”

— Eli W.

Actors, are you ready for a little tough love?

The first time you practice an accent should NOT be for an audition.

You’re already a great actor. But do you know what goes right out the window the first time you learn any accent or dialect? Yep, it’s your acting skills. Don’t let your next audition be your first attempt.

Actors who invest in learning these skills before a big opportunity presents itself are the ones who book jobs that require an accent. And if you ask a coach to work with you on an audition coming up without any previous experience, they’ll likely say no. You can see why here.

If you’ve ever wanted to play an English role, whether on-screen or on-stage, there are so many actors who are already so good at the accent. English and Australian actors audition for American roles all the time… Don’t you want to be in the game too?

But what about Dialect and Accent Coaches? If they wanted to cast me, they’d just teach me for the job right?

Well yeah! If you’re Emma Stone or someone like that… But unless you’re ‘offer only’, casting needs to know you already have the skills capable of being coached.
